Choose Your Life will Focus on Diabetes Prevention Beginning in May, Clear Creek Public Health will sponsor a diabetes prevention program called Choose Your Life. The class will be facilitated by Tami Bradley, RN, and a trained Lifestyle Coach. The evidenced-based program was recently endorsed by the state for its focus on lifestyle changes and its success in reducing body weight by up to seven percent. One in three Coloradans has pre-diabetes and may be at risk of developing Type 2 diabetes, but may not know they are at risk. If you would like to know if you are at risk or if you think you may be a candidate for this class, please call or e-mail Tami at 303-670-7544, tbradley@co.clear-creek.co.us. The weekly class will be held at the Recreation Center in Idaho Springs Tuesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. beginning May 28, 2013. Class fees are currently being determined, including scholarships for those in need. An incentive is planned for participants who complete the class.

It is a great way for kids and teens to practice their reading skills without fear of criticism or judgment. It is also great for the dogs to have positive interaction with humans in a calm way, giving them a better chance of a quick adoption and making room for other homeless dogs to get into the shelter. Each week we will have a fun, brief learning activity at the shelter. This may include topics about companion animal care, animal safety, working dogs, compassion, positive action and other topics. We can formulate these topics to help in earning badges/pins/beads for scouting or to meet requirements for community service projects. Anyone and Everyone who is interested! All ages are invited to participate, but we strongly encourage beginning readers, as this is an excellent opportunity to gain confidence in their skills while having fun! *There will be no physical contact with t
